Another possibility is blowby getting past the piston. When it overheated it may have caused damage to the lower end, although the compression readings seem good. Maybe a wet compression test may reveal something. If the car sat for a very long time in humid conditions with head off, the piston rings may have seized. Is there any unusually high oil consumption also? How do the plugs look?
