Windshield with built in antennae

Has anyone either replaced on or witnessed a replacement being done for
a windshield that has the built in antennae? My question is, where/what
path does the lead for the antennae come through to get to the radio?

I can see that it seems to go into the dash around the far lower
passenger side of the windshield, but from there can't see a thing. The
windshield was replaced a couple of previous owners ago and I don't even
know if the lead was connected, etc.
