Whew! you're not converting two numbers that refer to the same temp, you're comparing the *size* of the degrees. IE the difference between the slopes over a given interval. F degrees are 5/9 the size of C degrees. The F scale is also shifted 32 degrees off the origin, hence the "+ or -32" in the conversion. Doesn't apply to converting deltas. 7 deg C does equal about 45 deg F (and 280 K).
