Exact same problem happened to my 89 100q a few months ago. Pretty good bet it is the switch. About $100 for a new switch plus the labor to tear the steering column apart and install. I never got mine fixed. I simply rewired the headlinghts so when I turn on the brights the low beams come on. I have no high beams. I replaced the stock light with Hellas about 2 years ago so not have high beams is not a major problem for me. I'm going to get rid of the car in the next few months. If I was going to keep it for a long period of time I'd have replaced the switch. Bill Murin 89 100q 174,000 miles
