About replacing the timing belt in an I-5, Hizzoner Phil Payne notes: The major problem for most people is the torque - 332 lb ft at the bolt. True. But remember that although generating 332 lbs/ft with a ONE-foot wrench requires 332 pounds of oomph...you can slide a 4- foot pipe over a 1/2" "breaker bar" handle and the push required at the end of the FOUR-foot pipe is only 83 pounds. BTDT with pipe and calibrated shoulder, nothing fell off afterwards, and I don't think 10 or 20 lbs/ft one way or another (when you're at those kind of numbers) makes a whole lot of difference. YMMV.
