Stan asked about leather vs leatherette in the A4. I have a 98 A4 1.8T q with leatherette and I am satisfied with the look. Everyone thinks it is leather in fact. I have had one tiny spot of wear on the outside of the drivers seat and I don't know if that is common or not. Dealer says it will be covered under warranty but I am not clear yet if they intend to repair or replace. Despite this problem, I would probably take the leatherette again. The cloth looked a bit cheesy to me and the leather looked too plush. The leatherette had the closest to to the competition look I wanted. As to the 1.8 vs. 2.8, the test magazines all seemed to think the 1.8 was the more performance oriented engine despite the fact it is smaller. Certainly it is the engine that is targetted by the aftermarket tuning products. Just my opinion. I hope you enjoy your car.
