[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] 200 tqa - current draw
Well, figured out why the battery has been dying. When the car is locked (only tested via drivers door), it creates a current draw - something is not turning off or is being turned on. Pulling fuse 19 (door heater, alarm, central locking) eliminates the draw. Reinsertion of the fuse sometimes resets it. i.e. no draw upon reinsertion. For the time being, I guess I'll just use the doors manually. Does anyone have a cheat sheet for opening up the door panels? Which of the 3 systems usually has switch failure? On BMWs, the door heater switch is the one that goes. However, it usually creates a burning smell as the door heater stays on full time, and the lock can get red hot and burn you (I had this happen on my 635). On my car, I'm guessing its the alarm in this case. I've never heard it chirp when locking the door from the outside, but *once*, it chirped when I locked the doors from the inside, suggesting parts of it are still alive. Thanks in advance. Samir.
