I need to do this to my GT ASAP and I don't want to forget any > parts when I order them. let's keep this simple... the q and 2wd shifter's are completely different except for the knob. The 2wd uses the $50-60 plastic ball thing, they are either good or bad. It also has a nice complicated "thing" under the floor pan to get the motion exactly where it is wanted. early cars you can dismantle the "thing" and replace all the soft parts - photos and part numbers are on my web site. The later ones (84 or 85 on) use a single articulated piece that cannot be rebuilt and serves exactly the same function. part number, 811 711 613 C; price, unknown in US but my little elf says they are about 400 GBP (!!!!!!). the Q I am much less familiar with but you have read it described here recently. I'm too lazy to look up the part numbers right now. -- Huw Powell http://www.humanspeakers.com/audi/ 82 Audi Coupe; 84 4kq; 85 Coupe GT; 73 F250
