That's _exactly_ what I did argue, and almost the words I used.  In fact
your whole 'rebuttal' merely restates what my original post said but
in different words.

I agree with the analogue display point on this (and other) issues.  The
integration period used by digital meters actually masks a _lot_ of
phenomena on these cars, and analogue meters are a lot more useful than
most people realise.  Getting hard to find good ones, though.
