So then in the case of same piston area, why even go with a dual
sided caliper?

I didn't really get your point about rigidly mounting the caliper- can't
this be done in either case (single or dual)?

Why would Porsche have gone to a monoblock caliper if the two-piece
design was better? Cost savings?
