I would agree that I have heard that it is a little less efficient but can
say that under normal driving conditions you can't really tell.  I do
however notice a little less cooling efficiency when idling in heavy bumper
to bumper traffic on 90+ days.  I am not aware of any pressure increase with
134a but am not an expert on this.  I have not personally seen any faster
loss of refrigerant with 134a on any of my cars.

I have heard that not only is the 134a less efficient,
but that system pressures with 134a are FAR higher Vs
with R12. This results in more premature component
failures and might also explain the observed faster
loss of refrigerant over time.
