Radiator Hose Attachment

Bryan: I once repaired the upper nipple with a section of 1" brass
tubing and high temp epoxy. (The brass is available at the plumbing
department as "water closet riser" or something similar. It is the
tube that supports the toilet flapper valve.) I soldered a heavy piece
of wire around the end to give the hose clamp some grip. It worked for
a few months, but the nipple then broke off right at the tank. I
suspected that the thermal variances introduced by the brass fatigued
an already tired bit of plastic. It was at that point that I decided
it was time for a new all-metal radiator.
