A couple of questions about the guestimates you've posted Greg,
(1) if you look at the changes (delta) between the setups, and then at the
torque to hp comparison at similar rpms, doesn't something seem off?
(2) Do you know if both engines were also running the RS2 exhaust cam? I
thought, in my case at least, and unfortunately at the time only backed up
by a seat of the pants dyno, it brought the turbo (a "factory spec" whatever
that might have been RS2) on line several hundred rpm, ?? 300-500, sooner.
(3) There are a shop or two out there claiming new turbo technology now
available to you, the public, promising 'quicker spooling, faster moving'
boost, i.e. Turbonetics semi BB, and Innovative full ball bearing Garrett
In the FWIW category, I believe I've heard around the coffee tables & tofu
food courts up in Boulder a UrS savant or two hypothesizing they has seen
turbo nirvana in an all out RS2 set up, & even at altitude arrive as early
as @3200 rpm, maybe even a bit sooner. Only speculation on my part, but at
more reasonable elevations of mind & thought, if not lung capacity, you
might see a bit better, sooner nearer sea level.
