bleeding air out of coolant system

Okay...did the above, and the coolant level didn't do much...crept up
slightly, if anything, as the engine fully warmed up.

Once the fan had run, I replaced the cap and shut the car off.

No gurgle/bubbling noises...but I bet that if I take it for a drive,
it'll come back and be a-burblin'.

IF that happens, what am I looking at?  Head gasket failure?  It's
hard to tell, but I guess the exhaust smells a little sweet; the O2
sensor came out with white crap all over the half facing the turbo.
Tailpipe does not have any white residue.

The car does not really consume much coolant at all(I think); every
once in a blue moon I happen to peek over and see the tank is a
little below the min level and top it off; that was, however, with
the old cap, which was replaced today(and was leaking somewhat.)
