Not sure about the lighter weight (probably), but it is what has to be used
for a transverse mounted motor. The Haldex is a viscous coupling, ie; it
requires slippage in the front wheels for power to be put to the rear
wheels, IOW, a front driver most of the time. Prob is that it is a reactive
system as opposed to the more proactive torsen. I worked at an Audi dealer
for 3 yrs and in the winter we would sometimes have to push a TT, but never
a sedan, with both being AWD. The difference is noticeable on a track too.
To me, too much understeer has to be introduced before rear provides any
assist, then not enough. Sedan (torsen) is relatively easy to put into a 4
Though, depending on how/where you are going to use your car, you may never
see a difference 'tween the two.;^)
