I concur totally.  Just another "tool in the box",
heck the variety of torque wrenches was more $$$.

Even just the luxury of periodic scans to see how
things are going (very nice while under warranty) pay
for the investment.  These aribitrary scans can net
early detection in some cases. Plus I can use it on
other cars too (mother's B5 VW Passat, our B5 S4,
sister's B6 VW Passat, other listers, other track-day
participants, etc).
