[Biturbos4] Idle Warming Up Question

I don't see how idling can cause greater engine wear, more emissions though, but not engine wear. When it's -30 oC outside, I sure as hell am not driving my baby without at least 8-10 minutes of warm up!

Has anyone put any type of block heater or electric pad type heater to their car? I don't understand how Audi/VW do not carry any block heaters on their cars sold in Canada! They don't even approve the use of any!!
