I replaced the complete stock airbox with the K&N set-up from EVO.
My experience, I noticed an immediate increase in throttle response.
Does this equate to increased HP - probably not - but in my opinion - the car breathes better.
I have since added the AWE TWIN 2 exhaust, and the GIAC X chip. My Y2K S4 is out of warranty. The difference between my current NON-STOCK set-up and the the original STOCK configuration - is NIGHT & DAY!!!
My current (non-stock) configuration is how the car should have been delivered from the factory!!!
My original turbos (infamous passenger side) blew just out of warranty @ 52k mi - note that my car was STOCK at the time. I now have the UPGRADED turbos that are standard on post Y2K S4s.
So, if I blow my turbos now (because of the chip, dual exhaust, and EVO K&N airbox) - I will just rip out the K03s and get K04s - which is what the factory SHOULD have put in these cars from the start.

Be careful with that K&N. The filter oil has been known to coat
the MAF sensor and damage it. Also, I have not seen *any* objective
proof that the K&N filter adds horsepower. Their ads make some
pretty wild claims, but I don't think that's backed up by real dyno
