Peter,
Problem was too narrow a wheel for the tire.  The narrow rim put too  much of 
the tire toward the inside.

Reason I ask was when I tried a set of 225/50/16 Dunlop SP8000 on  16x 
7 et 35 Borbet Type Ts, they did not clear the tie rod  ends.
