What oils are you running in engine/tranny-diff/rear diff?
A while ago I asked about lifter tick solutions. I decided to solve the
problem in stages. I'm now running 15W50 Mobil1. We'll see if that helps. If
it doesn't, new lifters go in. I'm sure the rest of the engine will thank me
for the oil regardless. It might even cry a few happy oily tears on my
What about the tranny/center diff? The PO said there was Mobil1 in it. I
imagine he meant motor oil, not the GL5 stuff. After much listening, I have
determined that I can hear small differences in tone of gear whine depending
on what gear I'm in. This leads me to believe that my gear noise is indeed
the tranny? Correct? I'm thinking of using Redline MT90 to quiet and
protect. Everything shifts well. I get the odd stick-slip though.
PO said rear diff had Mobil1 in it. I assume that IS the GL5 stuff. It's not
making any noise whatsoever. Leave well enough alone, or switch to Redline
