Does the A/C seem to work ok? My GTI did a similar high idle with A/C a
while after an R-134a conversion, and wasn't cooling that well either.
Replacing expansion valve fixed it, seems that something jammed the valve
open so the compressor was running but not having to do much work, thus the
idle speed compensation made it run too fast.
