Type 44 Heater cable problem

I just finished totally rebuilding the heater box in my 5000 turbo, but I ran into a snag when trying to setup the heater cable. I forgot how the heater cable casing is held in place by the little support on the heater box. I have some pics available here: http://www.engr.uconn.edu/~ameer/heater/

These are probly the most useful photos:

here's a much wider angle:

The outer casing has to be held down somehow, so that when you pull on the cable, the casing doesn't just come with it... sorta like a bike's brake cable system. There's a tiny support that I replaced that looks like it should do the trick, but I can't figure out how it works or how the two tie to each other. I'm not sure if I have the cable and the vacuum hose in the rubber grommet the right-way around, but I don't think that's the real problem. If someone has BTDT before or if anyone is willing to just sneak a peak under their black plastic cover, PLEASE let me know. Thanks a bunch.
