Low voltage in battery, all the time

The type 44 cars, as I understand it, have a splice in the long "+" 
battery line under the passenger footwell carpet.  It tends to degrade, 
resulting in extra resistance between the battery and the 
alternator/starter.  This results in poor charging/starting.  Along with 
all the "usual suspects" this should be investigated.

You might be able to diagnose it by disconnecting the battery ground 
wire and measuring the resistance between the battery "+" terminal and 
the big wire going to the starter.  With the car off, of course...
