Pull people off the street and show them a picture of a 2CV or a DS,
and you'd be surprised at how much recognition Citroen has.
It's arguably quite better than old Japanese cars. Show folks
pictures of a Mitsubishi Gallant GTO or a Toyota 2000GT and I
guarantee they wouldn't have a clue as to what country they were made
in, much less what company...but the Citroen designs are unmistakable
(not always a good thing...)
