Timing belt ?

It depends a lot on the condition of the battery.

In my 82 cgt with an iffy battery, I only got about 15 miles (no radio 
or fan, had to run at least parking lights though, it was dark) after my 
alt belt snapped.

A few weeks ago, when my VR died in my 90Q, which has a fairly fresh, 
non-abused battery, I did a 20 mile round trip with three starts without 
the battery voltage at the gauge changing - about 11.2 or so the whole time.
