hey all just following this thread and have noted people talking about which
high-perf summer tires are ok in the snow.
?!?! warning!! danger!!
i don't care how m+s rated a tire is, barring an emergency and you're caught
w/ your pants down [or your summer tires on] you should [in my imperialist
opinion of course] be running a dedicated snow tire for any kind of regular
snow travel. i don't care if you have 8 wheel drive, if all 8 of those
wheels are wrapped in baloneyskin summer tires you might as well put skii's
on the car.
the difference in grip, braking, cornering, etc in snow or icy, slushy roads
with a dedicated snow tire is really remarkable. think spider man rolled in
glue and wrapped with velcro. at this point you can score a set of 15"
wheels and tires for so cheap it's not worth messing around.
here's my girl doin' it right:
10+ years driving snowtire shod audi's in the snow.
