broken hood cable 97 cabbyGeraint Lloyd geraintlloyd_qc at yahoo.caTue Aug 5 06:43:06 PDT 2008
It's the same style as the wife's 200, so the long cable with the 2 white plastic trumpets that pull together bending those crappy straight spring things toward each other and popping the 2 pins on either side. I have got into this by poking a hook made from a bent wire coat hanger, through the grill and hooking the spring. But then I cand see the spring through the grill on the 200. The other solution might be to go from underneath the car, but it depends how much crap is in the way. On the 200 it's a non starter, but it can be done on the golf....... Having battled with this one for hours, I tied a length of single core 30A mains cable around each release spring and "hid" the cable behind the grill. Next time I just have to fish the flex out and give it a yank. When the handle is pulled inside the car, the passenger side opos ok but the drivers side doesn't budge. Any suggestions?
