I am in a heat wave all the time! Live in southern Arizona. I don't find
any difference with my starting problem whether it is at first morning light
and 50 degrees or if it is afternoon and 105.
Also, you mention if you crank it long enough you get a cough or
two................I have never had even a hint of wanting to start. I turn
the switch off, retry and instant start.
You are wondering *"if the cold start valve shuts off after a second or two
at warm temperatures. Shutting ignition off and on recycles the cold start
valve for another shot of fuel - and the engine now starts."
*depends on how warm you are talking about..don't recall the numbers now but
above a certain temp, the cold start is not in the picture
If we keep fiddling long enough we might come across the problem.
