V8 Quattro Distributor cap removal

That was it! 8mm bolt - 8mm socket + 4" extension + 1/4" ratchet did the trick.

Distributor caps were wasted - nothing left but carbon where there should be contacts.
No wonder the car was stalling out.  Doesn't look like caps had ever been replaced.

I'll second that. All the one's I've taken off were also 8mm. The Cizzy's themselves are
10mm, and the rotors are glued on from the factory. If you are replacing them, usually
they have to be broken off.
