Well i hope the torsen list isn't dead to all, and maybe this will revive
it some? Doubtful one thread will do that though.

I searched thru as much of the archives as i could find and didn't find
any topics covering engine oils. I'm interested in what people have to
say. The link below has some great info, however not being a chemE i
don't know how much of it is true/pertinent.

My personal experience is that i've been a mobil 1 advocate for sometime.
Been running the 15w50 in my audi for 3 years+ and have used their
motorcycle oil in bikes since i was 15. Never had a problem. Last oil
change i decided to give the amsoil fully synthetic S2000 "severe use
racing oil" a try. At $8 something a quart i was skeptical. Put it in,
didn't notice any significant changes in anything. After 3500miles, a
drag day, and some very abusive street driving I didn't think there was
any difference. Lifters still ticked like hell after first gear pulls.

So last night i put mobil 1 back in the car. And dang there is a
difference after all. During some typical running errands the car was
running on the border of the fan turning on constantly. It NEVER did
this with amsoil in the car. And it's 20 degress cooler than the last
time i did any around town errand driving. Maybe this is just dumb
coincidence and maybe my resistor pack died last night after the oil
change, but i doubt it. And the lifters seem to be noisier after a first
gear launch than before. maybe there is something to $8/qt.

Anyone here have any tech articles on this? i guess i should try looking
at the SAE stuff too.
