Hi all,
Just a couple questions which should determine whether or not I
should consider the TT for a "fun" car. Thanks in advance for your
responses, I need all the feedback I can get.
In no particular order of importance:
1) With the turbo, does the car need to be run for a few minutes after
"spirited" driving to prevent coking of the turbo (and its early demise?)
2) Is the engine easy/inexpensive to modify so that I can get the 0-60
time down into the low 7 second, maybe high 6 second bracket?
3) Any chance of getting a good used version (coupe) for around $15k?
Anything in particular that is endemic to the TT model that I should be
especially aware of before getting one? Is a turbo easy to check for
operating condition in a PPI (pre-purchase inspection?) Reason I ask, I
had a 1985 new Dodge Lancer ES 2.2 turbo with all the bells and whistles,
even found a 5 speed, but in those days I was not aware (and there was no
internet) that you had to run the car for a few minutes after
"enthusiastic" driving to avoid coking. Yeah, I blew the turbo. Don't
want it to happen again, hence the question about checking the condition or
the necessity of doing the "cool down" period with modern day turbos.
Thanks a lot for all the help, and Merry Christmas to everyone (Season's
Greetings).
Best regards,
Tom Reynolds
