Unless you are going to have your car in an attitude of a rock climbing 
truck, an Optima is not needed.  I researched this when I thought I 
needed one for the inside-the-cabin installation of my S2 battery.  In 
fact, I found that I was better off with a vented battery.  Love the 
Interstate batteries.
