I've had this problem off and on with 3 different coupes. Tapping the top  of 
the binnacle will sometimes bring it back, sometimes not.
The bulbs always check out with direct power, so I take the cluster out  
clean the contacts on the green membrane and bulb holders. Usually lasts up to 6  
months and repeat.
Ah yes, life with old cars.
