[urq] Boot replacment - kerosene plus what grease?: Ball joint boots : type43 parts may fitsteven j michellepfeiffersx at yahoo.comSun Sep 16 09:55:45 PDT 2007
THanks I purchased these type 43 boots ($30 each) and am ready to replace my damaged urq boots. One ball joint is on my car and just recently got a hole in it( 1 year ago - 50 miles). The other ball joint I got used with a subframe and has a badly torn boot. Should I take off the boot and soak it in kerosene for a week, and then what is the best grease to use? I have some CV joint grease from vw. steve --- laraa at sympatico.ca wrote: > Steven, I bought some ball joint boots that were > listed for the Type 43 > cars, 1980-83 5000 for us North Americans, and I > think Brady used them on > his car, after removing them from my parts store... > This happened last year, > he was supposed to replenish my stock, I don't > remember the end of this > story... > > Brady ? > > Since I am away from home, I can't help you more, but > I'll ask Brady to > confirm they fit on an urQ, then one of us will find > the correct part number > on ETKA. > > IIRC, price was 28$CDN, not cheap, but definitely > less than an urQ BJ. > > Louis-Alain, > in vacation in south of France (more on this later) > > > >I pinched the rubber (boot?) against the a-arm and > put > >a tiny hole in it.
