[urq] Bad ISV Causes Racing Idle?urq urq at pacbell.netMon Aug 11 18:23:11 PDT 2008
... you answered your own question Todd ... "crimping the line to the ISV causes the idle to die" ... clearly that is the source of your high idle. You say that you cleaned the ISV ... and I'll assume that you made sure it was not stuck open at that time. This would imply that the ISV is being driven open ... have you disconnected the electrical line to the ISV to see if the engine dies? It should. If it doesn't you ISV is the problem, if it does you need to look at the idle control module ... Yea, I already pulled it and cleaned it with Carb Cleaner to no Avail. But my questions still exists. CAN JUST the ISV failure cause a car to Idle that high. 3,500 - 4,000 RPM. I mean, crimping the line to the ISV causes the idle to die so I'm thinking yes, Its just normally when I hear of ISV failures its cars dying or not idleing well. But in this case, it just Idles at 4k RPM. I didnt realize the ISV could pass that much air through. --- On Sun, 8/10/08, SpotatAshleys <spotatashleys at hotmail.com> wrote: > From: SpotatAshleys <spotatashleys at hotmail.com> > Subject: Re: [urq] Bad ISV Causes Racing Idle? > To: "Todd Phenneger" <tquattroguy at yahoo.com>, "urq list" <urq at audifans.com> > Date: Sunday, August 10, 2008, 2:01 PM > Todd > They can get gunked up with sticky oil vapour residue and > ceased to function > but check the integrity of the wiring to and from it first. > regards > > Keith > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Todd Phenneger" > <tquattroguy at yahoo.com> > To: "urq list" <urq at audifans.com> > Sent: Sunday, August 10, 2008 5:10 AM > Subject: [urq] Bad ISV Causes Racing Idle? > > > > Hi, > > The MC-1 I have in my 4ktq started idling at about > 3,500 suddenly.
