[urq] turbo chirping

I have a 3B engine in my 84 ur quattro for about 4 years now. It is chipped without cat.  But just this week I started getting the turbo chirp shifting up, never before this. I hear this is ruff on the turbo.  But why is it doing it now? Any info is much appreciated.
