[urq] A/C question

Guys-
so those of you with working A/C - yes both of you - 
when you turn on the A/C - does the compressor vibrate the car?  I don't
recall this always being the case - but on mine - it is rough.
And even when on the highway at 3000 rpm - I can feel the compressor "surge"
or something - I think it is when the clutch kicks in.  I can feel if hold
the engine back, so to speak.  Normal?  I could see this being the case at
idle o r low low rpm - but cruising on the highway?
