[urq] Pressure accumulator , The Bomb , thoughtsPatrick Carlier p.carlier at pandora.beMon Dec 8 09:59:17 PST 2008
So now I've reached the stage where I'm to put the hydraulics back together . I's all pretty straight forward , altough I had a hard time finding the pump . :) To may parts , not enough storage room . I think it's safe to assume that a 1981 bomb is dead by now . It hasn't been used for at least five years and I have no idea about it's condition or about it's previous condition when I stored the car . . Dealer wants 200€ for a new one . No way I'm gonna pay that kind of money . So I did some research and then machined a small part that allows me to use a commonly available brand of bomb . This one is 80€ only , and it 's recheargable . If the nitrogen pressure is checked and serviced , say every two or 3 years it's supposed to last a lifetime . We'll see . Now the only snag left is the precharge pressure . I just can't seem to find that information . The audi hydraulic system operates between 36 and 57 Bar . Got that from the audi workshop manual . The bomb constructor recomends a precharge pressure of 0.8 ..0.9 times P1 . That would be 28.80...32.40 Bar . 30Bar would be a good value then . Does this makes sense ? Thougts , btdt's .. fire away . Pat 1981 WR back on its wheels .
