Hey Mike: Great to learn you are bring your son. I've got two 13 year old sons with me. We left NJ on July 25, with my wife and 3 sons, and headed straight across I-80 to Tahoe. We made it in 2 1/2 days, most of the time cruising at or near 90mph. The valentine was surprisingly quiet, but saved us several times in Nebraska....the troopers there had some creative speed traps. They were even shooting radar while pretending to be broken on on the side of the road in a Black late model VW Bug. So far we've been to Tahoe, Yosemite and SFO, and right now we're in Big Sur. The car has run great, with the only issues being a ABS sensor, a brake light that keeps burning out, and the AC struggling to keep up to the midday heat. The car was been surprisingly comfortable for the five of us. We're headed to Vegas and then camping for a few days at Havasu Falls in AZ before we had back to Colorado for Aug 8th. It's more direct and it puts you right into an area that we Colorado Folk could help you if there is trouble. You'll drive RIGHT by 3zero3 (as 76 merges with 70) who has offered their shop, lifts, tools if you need it.
