In regards to the throttle cable, they're still available through the
dealer (surprisingly!), as I bought one for my 4000 a lil while ago.
If you order through Criswell Audi in Maryland, you are eligible for a
quattro club discount if you are a member of the acna.  IIRC, I paid
like $55 or so for mine.

About a year ago mine went - local import car parts place had them in stock
- about $2 IIRC - I think a bunch of VWs use the same part.  I also think
Martin knows of a better replacement that is harder or something.
