... if it were the dimmer on the switch all the lights would be out ...
given that things were working before you buttoned everything up I would
expect that a connector got pulled loose somewhere.

Moved my boost and oil temp gauge (mechanical Autometers) to the top of the
dash.
I tapped power from one of the blue/white wires from the harness and ran
the ground directly to the body for the gauge lights. All worked fine until
I buttoned it up!
 
Now, no console lights, gauge lights, diff panel lights, ash tray light or
heater panel lights. But, all the dash panel lights work. 
 
After testing, it appears the harness is not getting power to the BL/WH wire
that feeds it from the light switch. 
 
Hmmm....could be I just answered my own question! Check the light switch?
