I too heard this wouldn't work.? I did it 5 years ago to my blue 83 (old style control arms, new style C/A bushings), no issue on install, fitment and fit for use,? they are still in the car today. I just replaced a combination of old and new style on my 'early' suspension car with all new style 'metal encased' bushings. They seem to press in normally.
