Andrew, that is so strange. We both live in CA too. Possibly local agency agreement differences, or something. I really have no clue though. My JC Taylor policy definately had a mileage limitation of something like 2000 or 2500 miles a year. The Haggerty policy my agent switched me to has no mileage limit, just usage restrictions. 

I can't comment on claims experience, since I have had none with either company. However, the renewal premium going down some 35%, or so, after the first year was a really nice surprise from Haggerty.

Mike, I have had the exact opposite experience. My JC Taylor policy has no mileage limitation and Haggery does........
