You could try a Terratrip Universal Cable Drive probe, that is supposed to
fit all speedo cables

there was one on the golf when i bought it in 96, so i know that they can be
made to fit VW/Audi cables.

I have a slight spin on this one.  Is there a way to get a speed  
signal while retaining the speedo cable?  I have a stock dash, but  
need a speed signal to feed my PLX R-500 datalogger.  It needs a  
pulsed input for vehicle speed. The stock electronic sender goes in  
the same spot as the cable.  Is there any other place to get a signal?
