[urq] Best Way to Change Fuel Pressure Accumulatorurq urq at pacbell.netThu Jun 4 22:54:03 PDT 2009
... where's any fuel that is going to leak going to come from? I'd suggest that the fuel pump should prevent the tank from draining ... and you're going to have to deal with whatever's in the fuel pressure accumulator when you remove it ... I'd carefully loosen the feed line to the engine with a rag close at hand to catch whatever leaks. Once the pressure was relieved you should be able to R&R the pressure accumulator ... So ... what did you find for a replacement fuel pressure regulator? -----Original Message----- In the past I clamped off the main soft fuel supply line to stop the flow of fuel whenever I changed the fuel pump, the fuel filters, etc. Then people said that was not good as it might damage the fuel line. Short of draining the tank - yeah right - is there a preferred way to stop the flow of fuel while doing this operation? Do those rounded roller clamps they make for this job work better to shut off the fuel? Thanks. Andrew Finney 1985 UrQ V8.
