[urq] [Bulk] Mating 4k tranny to 3b motorLouis-Alain Richard larichard at plguide.comWed Jun 17 07:12:59 PDT 2009
Vittorio, Steeve is right. 4k pilot bearing : 046 105 313D, C18 x 24 x16 3B and upgrade for other engines (see service bulletin 1-70 from 2/1991): 034 105 313A BK15 x 24 x 26 So the 3B pilot is probably 3mm smaller and 10 mm longer, hence your insertion problems. Time to destroy that brand new pilot bearing and install a proper one. Hope it wasn't too expensive... Louis-Alain -----Message d'origine----- ... no direct BTDT on the swap you are doing, but I had a similar issue when doing a clutch on a 4kQ. A parts desk clerk convinced me that a particular pilot bearing was a sealed cross reference to the open 4kQ part I poked the new bearing into the crank and couldn't get the transmission to engage the engine on reinstall ... this improved bearing was not a cross for the 4kQ ... The lesson I learned, and what I recommend to you is that you get a 4kQ pilot bearing and test fit it to the pilot shaft on the tranny ... and then see if it fits the crankshaft on your engine ... I'm pretty sure you will find that it does. Steve Buchholz -----Original Message----- After struggling w/the 3b pilot bearing - finally getting it out and putting the new 3B pilot bearing back into the motor - it seems that the 4k tranny input shaft is much larger than what the stock 3B motor is expecting. I believe I need to re-remove the 3B pilot bearing and install the 4k pilot bearing into the 3b motor - will that work?
