[urq] Classic Car Club urq feature on HDTHR TVquattrodude at comcast.net quattrodude at comcast.netWed Mar 4 15:06:55 PST 2009
hey just re-read my email, I wanted to let peeps know that all i was saying is anything can be expensive...not bashing KAMMLER in anyway or the program... Sorry if people thought that's how i was portraying it, not my intention at all..just saying more of a comparison and cost of inflation right? Bomb 3years ago i could get for $75...now same part looks like about $120 (Yeah I think I need another one)... Actually I think a lot of the parts you can find pretty cheap...(if at all) Again sorry...JP ----- Original Message ----- From: quattrodude at comcast.net To: KAMMLER1 at aol.com Cc: urq at audifans.com Sent: Wednesday, March 4, 2009 10:24:03 AM GMT -08:00 US/Canada Pacific Subject: Re: [urq] Classic Car Club urq feature on HDTHR TV I don't disagree that things are not cheap, but come on, I think any car is expensive to fix in this day and age! If your navi pukes in your car what that $2K??? AC is prob $3-800 pending on what it is, and lets not get started about eco friendly batteries! Anyway, I think more the point is...What is the problem, I think my problems/costs would be A LOT cheaper if I knew the exact fix the first time around and not spending hours and hours or needing shop time to figure out sometimes very basic things/fixes. With that note - at least for Oregon people, I called up DMV, we can now register our vehicles at "Special Interest cars" - woot no more DEQ and fees! and a permanant license plate. Also check with your insurance about how much cheaper it will be to insure depending on your usage, I'm now only paying $106 every 6 months for full coverage! (but there are restrictions of course). Cheers for now JP ----- Original Message ----- From: KAMMLER1 at aol.com To: urq at audifans.com Sent: Wednesday, March 4, 2009 10:13:02 AM GMT -08:00 US/Canada Pacific Subject: [urq] Classic Car Club urq feature on HDTHR TV There I am eating lunch watching an episode of the British series "Classic Car Club" on the HDTHR (HD Theater) channel of my Time/Warner cable DVR.......... and what is featured?? A gorgeous white 10V WR urquattro! It was profiled in the shows "cheap-to-buy-classic" section that has also featured other cars like the 928 Porsche, etc.. The show info is wrong, so a keyword like "quattro" might not pick it up in a search. Although it is great to see such a twin to my old car on screen, of course it felt like someone twisting a knife in my chest.......... ;-) When the host got to the point of explaining how any problem in an old urq would quickly lead to financial collapse and a river of tears, I let out a loud "Amen, brother!" lol Anyway, look for the program and its sister shows, "Wheeler Dealers" and "Auto Trader". They all remind me of a TV version of the UK magazine "Classic & Sportscar". Dean 'ex '85 WR urq (I'm in the USA) **************Worried about job security? Check out the 5 safest jobs in a recession.
