[urq] Fried starter? Yes indeedie!urq urq at pacbell.netSat Mar 21 16:28:13 PDT 2009
.... there should have been a sheet metal heat shield with that "big fat Bosch" ... I prefer the skinny reduction gear units from the newer cars anyway ... it seems that they crank the engine faster ... Steve B San Jose, CA (USA) -----Original Message----- Indeed that was the case. I was unable to find any problem with any grounds.... Craig...next time you're in the area, you have my services at your disposal! Took the battery to Pep Boys to test it....A-ok. Ordered a rebuilt starter from NAPA, turned the key....nice, instant fire up within 2 seconds of cranking. FWIW, the starter I replaced was one of them big fat Boschs. I think the size of the housing places it too close to the exhaust and thes is little if no room for any type of air flow. I also bought some heat wrap to cover the new starter, but my hands were killing me after the starter job so I will hold off on that. Thanks for all the help! Gary
