[urq] Fuel pump issue fixed .Patrick Carlier p.carlier at pandora.beMon Sep 28 02:00:58 PDT 2009
It's fixed . Some previous owner cut off the wire from the fusebox to the to the fuel pump relay , and connected it to the back up light circuit . Who needs backuplights anyway .... Needles to say , that circuit can not nearly deliver enough current . That's also the reason I couldn't get the pump to run without the ign switched on . I pulled about a meter of wire , and 4 factory connections behind the fusebox . All connections had that brownisch colour on the edges indicating overheating . So I replaced it all , from the pump to the fusebox to the relay . Eliminating as much connections as possible . So now I have 11,9 V at the terminals with the pump running . Current draw is 8,60 A , I think that's acceptable . Still gonna do the filters though . Finally I did the delivery test . It's supposed to pump 1800cc/min . I got 1900cc ,so it's all well within spec . I think this is gonna cure most of my problems . Especially cause the warm up regulator is also powered off the fuel pump circuit . Guess that didn't get much current either , explaining the pig rich condition . But as I'm the stubborn kind of guy , I'm still gonna do the rest of the test scheme and start by measuring pressures at the cis head . Pat
