[V8] timing belt

I wanted to throw out a question while we are on the t-belt topic. I have heard that I need to remove the front engine cover to replace the oil pump and cam seals. This however, requires me to buy a $100+ replacement gasket. After looking at some etka engine views it looks like I could simply remove the upper rear t-belt covers....the ones that sit just behind the cam sprockets. This would give me access to the cams seals. It also looks like I could remove the oil pump bearing assembly with the front cover still on the engine. Can anyone tell me why it has been suggested in previous posts that the front cover should be removed. I am getting ready to do my second t-belt job on this car and I am going to replace these seals as well as the valve seals while I am in there. Any btdt on the valve seals. Thanks in advance for any advice.
As for original current topic. I would read through the archives and make sure you replace all of the parts that others have suggested. Don't forget the friction block. $1200 seems like a decent price but I try to find someone who has done this job before.

I've assembled all the parts for a thorough standard t-belt job (i.e.
no gotchas) and even with some wholesale pricing, the total was over
